Art Therapy

Aubrie Hess Reedy achieved a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy (MA AT) and training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) enabling counseling sessions to be a catalyst for client growth. Sessions are set up for creative experiences. Patients of all ages describe them as magical due to the art supplies and toys available.  Sessions are found to be invigorating and insightful, even as difficult topics are discussed.

Creating art is self-soothing, calming, and healing. The brain creates new neural passageways that can help trauma victims create new associations with traumatic memories. Play Therapy is utilized with younger clients. Sessions incorporate problem-solving skills which enable clients to find solutions, acceptance or forgiveness. Clients develop self-confidence and a sense of control as they become self aware and make choices.
