Clay Klima, MA

Brunswick and Kingsland Locations

Therapist

Clay has been helping individuals find meaning through difficult life situations and fostering human development for over 15 years. Before becoming a counselor, he lived abroad and worked for top-tier international schools in an educational capacity helping unique teens and young adults with challenging issues and little cultural support or understanding. His passion for learning and interacting with people outside of the “normal” perceptions of society led him to obtain a Master’s degree from Teacher’s College of New Jersey in Education & Neurodivergent Human Development in 2012.

Years later, he shifted his focus towards therapy; after working as a wilderness therapist with at-risk New York teens and seeing the positive changes in their mental health as a result of multi-week therapeutic outdoor techniques. He then decided to pursue more experience in this realm and graduated from one of a kind intensive program at Naropa University in 2023 with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and Counseling. Since graduating, Clay has worked in community mental health settings, special retreats, prisons and schools.

Clay enjoys working with all populations, presentations and specializes in mindfulness-based and faith-based counseling for severe anxiety and depression. His unique transpersonal therapeutic approach digs deeper beyond the self. He has a style which involves active listening and building trust within the relationship. Clay will help you change through experiential present-moment techniques that challenge you in positive ways towards growth and meeting your desired goals.

Clay enjoys painting, chess, sailing, skeet shooting, running and spending time with his wife and dogs.
